About
All of us have been hurt and humiliated, and some of us have suffered real trauma, neglect or abuse. We try to bury these experiences, and in order to live we develop ways to protect ourselves that typically involve blame, withdrawal, anger, drugs, manipulation and more. The therapeutic answer involves first resolving thoughts, feelings and behaviors born of actual or perceived past experiences, and secondly discovering an inner core of strength. Psychotherapy facilitates a sense of greater confidence and compassion, and fosters new awareness of connection and belonging. My interest and skill is in being useful to you in this process.
For 30 years my specialty has involved combat related PTSD and work with couples and groups, but I have considerable experience with varied issues. I do well with people who are hurt, upset or angry. Therapeutic change happens through new understandings and realizations in the context of a respectful relationship.
